Meet Our Team

Hi, I'm Lio. I'm a new Mainer putting down roots on the Quietside of MDI. I found my way to Maine through Fiddle Camp in 2016. After spending time traveling and working in organic farming and agronomy, I moved to Mount Desert Island to finish college. I'm always up for a new challenge, and I'm happiest when I have the opportunity to be helpful. When I'm not at the store, I enjoy social dancing, reading books about science and theology, and making music. 

"Why Sawyer's?"

I was alone in Paris. Hungry and tired, I strolled down the street until I came across a small corner store and ducked into the tight, dimly-lit space. I looked around and grabbed some potatoes, cooking greens, and a tomato and dropped them on the check-out counter with my few coins. Back across the street in my apartment, I sauteed the vegetables and ate them with a baguette I had purchased earlier from a nearby bakery. The simple, fresh meal lifted my spirits. And I thought, "I can handle this!"

So maybe there's a little bit of that in Sawyer's Market for me.

My favorite treat at Sawyer's Market is:

MaineFlavor's coffee toffee ice cream sandwich because it has coffee inside with a crunchy outside. Just try one.

If I was a fruit or vegetable, I would be:

A spaghetti squash.

I am most excited to contribute to Sawyer's Market by:

Using my love of good food to develop our kitchen's fresh deli offerings.

If I was a fruit or vegetable I would be:

An orange. It takes a short bit to peel me open, then you get the sweet middle.

When I'm not working, you might find me:

Crocheting or sewing.

My favorite treat at Sawyer's Market is:

Sillycow Farms' hot chocolate. It's the perfect blend of sweetness and bitterness.
